Location Description Südbrookmerland

Well-known resort with 18'500 inhabitants, 9 km from Aurich, 23 km from Emden, 25 km from Greetsiel. All shops, restaurants etc. 2 - 9 km. Sights Moormuseum Moordorf, Dörpmuseum Münkeboe, Windmühlen. The municipality is located on a part of the historic Brokmerland region, which was settled in the course of medieval colonization. There can be found origins of the first planned Moorkolonisation in East Frisia. An economic boom followed the cultivation of parts of the high moorland and allowed the construction of some exceptionally large churches (Victorbur, Wiegboldsbur and especially Engerhafe). Südbrookmerland is marked by agriculture and tourism with a focus on the Great Sea (fourth largest lake in Lower Saxony).
